Atomic Mass Games Branding Case Study
I overhauled the branding of Atomic Mass Games, upgrading its visual perception from a fledgling studio to a professional powerhouse in the tabletop games space.
The Before:
The studio had a logo and an idea of using messy paint splotches to reflect their products' creative expression. They had a few marketing images that were already being used as shown in this example image.
It was my task to expand and refine that idea into a full brand identity.

The After:

01
The Logo
The already existing logo for Atomic Mass Games was the starting point from which the rest of the external branding was developed from. Deconstructing the logo into a model kit frame, similar to the products the company produces, became both a pattern to utilize, as well as a spin-off logo signifier for specialty product releases.
02
The Hobbyist
To emphasize the creative aspect of assembling and painting the miniatures Atomic Mass Games offers, I implemented the look of a self healing cutting mat. This shows up on signage and digital ads when relating to the hobby side of the products.

03
The Professional
For a more serious professional look, the focus is back on identifiable aspects of the logo. No paint splashes here, just the core yellow and black hard contrast colors.

04
The Artist
For consumer facing marketing, the colors and wild paint come to attention grab. Cheery bright colors and a messy yet coordinated look showcase the imaginative and fun potential of the products. In a competitive market of dark and gritty wargames, Atomic Mass Games offers colorful heroes and dynamic moments.
